Trying to keep cool

Who knew all it took was an inch of water!  I bought this baby pool for Dru when she was just months old.  I think I need to invest in a bigger pool.
The girls had a great time splashing around keeping cool in this hot July heat.

Dru made her first skirt

Dru wanted to do a little sewing yesterday.  We looked through my fabric scraps and found some pink fabric that was big enough to make a skirt for her.  I made up a pattern and Dru cut it out.  She sewed it from beginning to end.  -Minus the trim which was  a bit tricky.  She loves to sew and is pretty good for a 6 year old.  I had a smile on my face the whole time she sewed.  It was fun to watch her concentrate, then giggle and then get poked with a pin and cry.  It was a never ending cycle.

Her legs couldn't quite reach the peddle without a little help.

The finished product.  I am so proud of her.

Ice blocking

Somehow I missed out in high school and never went ice blocking.  Ryan was in shock and said that was our activity for Monday night.  We stopped to get some frozen yogurt and then headed to Flat Iron Mesa. (It has the best hill)  The girls were a bit nervous at first and then got the hang of it.  I stayed nervous the whole time and screamed every time I went down.  Ryan was crazy and went super fast.  It was a perfect night and left the girls wanting more.  We are taking friends next time.  Anyone want to come?

Sunday afternoon

Here are the keepers after 42 shots.
This blurry shot is Rylie running away from me.
Gotta love Liv's face!
The one and only of them all standing by each other and smiling.

Rylie pulling out my flowers.  I wish the weeds looked more exciting to her.

Monday night in the mountains

We took our FHE to the mountains and made s'mores for our treat.  We found a perfect spot, enjoyed a little fire and had a great discussion.  It still amazes me how much kids already know and the questions they come up with.
Rylie is trying to pose in this one.
Ryan made me a perfect s'more.
Ryan starting the fire with one match.

Best dollar I ever spent.

When I take a picture of Rylie and say "smile"... this is what she gives me.  Not too shabby.
I bought modeling clay at Target for a dollar and the girls have spent hours playing with it.  It is less messy than play dough and easier to work with.  Here are their latest creations.

{Our family}  Ry and 4 girls....that's a lot of hair to do in the morning.

Lake Powell over the 4th

We spent the 4th of July with the Roberts and the Tice family in Lake Powell.  The Roberts have a boat and house boat and were generous to share.  We went wakeboarding, knee boarding, water skiing, surfing, tubing, played in the sand, went down the slide, had a campfire and made smores, ate, laughed, shared riddles and jokes, experienced a really bad storm, and somehow threw away all our pillow in the trash!

We had such a great time being with everyone.  Thank you Roberts for sharing!

Ryan found a lizard and decided to show Jake while he was buried in the sand.

Haley and I took Ellie and Dru on the knee board.  They both ended up in tears.
