New New Year's tradition

A good friend of ours told us that when their children were little they
celebrated new years at Little America.  We thought that sounded fun
so we gave it a try.  It was pretty awesome.
Our kids told us that it has to be our new tradition!

We left in the afternoon on new year's eve and headed downtown.
Owen had been packed since early in the morning and tried to wait patiently.

We stopped at Cafe Rio and ran into Bonnie Oscarson who is the general young women's president.
She was so kind and sweet and posed for a picture with our girls.

We then headed to City Creek to do some serious window shopping.

At around 4 we checked into Little America.
Owen was exhausted at this point.

We checked out the stores inside the hotel.

 We also went swimming.
They had a pool that went inside and outside.
The kids thought this was pretty cool.

It was FREEZING outside so they didn't last long on
this side of the pool.

We showered and went to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory.

Owen has some smell issues and preferred to eat at his own table.

We headed back to the hotel for some down time, exploring and more swimming.

We watched the ball drop at midnight.
We blew our horns and popped our poppers.
Lights out at 12:02.
Happy New Year!

We went to city creek for breakfast the next morning.
We woke up late and the line was too long for breakfast at the hotel.
We will have to catch it early next year!

Owen celebrates 6 with Star Wars

Star Wars is all over the place so it was easy to throw a Star Wars party.
I had a few awesome friends help collect Star Wars things and ideas.

Owen's friends arrived and found Kylo Ren at the door.

They started by coloring a Star Wars character.
Owen with his best bud cousin Henry.

This is the death star which was destroyed by the end of the party.

All of Owen's cute friends waiting patiently to go through
Jedi training to become true Jedi warriors.

They were first presented with a Jedi robe and light saber.

 First challenge: astroid toss

Second challenge: don't drop the storm trooper

Third challenge: pass the death star (hot potato)

The final challenge was to fight Darth Vader himself.

Owen was the one who finally brought him down.

All his friends joined in

  The Jedi Warriors

Present time!

We had yoda soda and vaderade along with brownies. (owen's request)

They loved their light sabers and wanted to have a final battle with each other.

A thank you to all his darling friends

I can't believe Owen is 6.
I love him with all my heart.
He is my best snuggler, reader, pickiest eater, routine driven, can't be late, crazy boy.
